Who are we looking for
We are looking for a skilled colleague with knowledge and expertise in the field of Biology and Medical Laboratory Research, to strengthen our team during the process of educational innovation.

Where are you going to get started
Through our educational courses, the students develop into an innovative professional. Your role as a Lecturer is to guide students during this development. You will provide education within the bachelor programs of Life Sciences & Technology: Biotechnology and Biology and Medical Laboratory Research. This education includes giving lectures, workshops and supervising and guiding projects both in the learning process and in the laboratory. You will also guide students during their internship and graduation and when conducting practice-oriented research. You will start with existing educational materials and taking over courses from colleagues that need time for the development of a new curriculum. There is time to get acquainted and prepare your courses until the summer, and starting from September you will perform your work independently. In time, we will assess which role you can fulfill in the development of the new education and in the other activities of the team.

In terms of expertise, there are various options to complement the team with your own work experience. Preferably, we are looking for someone who brings knowledge and experience from the medical biological field that can be deployed in the Biology & Medical Laboratory Research program. This could include molecular biology, cell biology, clinical chemistry and/or biochemistry.

In the coming years, we will also invest in new forms of education in the context of “Life long learning” and, in addition to full-time bachelor's education, we want to create offerings for working professionals (who already have a degree) and other target groups (for example through internationalization). If you also can contribute to these developments alongside teaching in het bachelor programs, the chances of placement for you in the long term are greater.

Profile sketch

• You have a relevant master's degree that is appropriate for the Biology and Medical Laboratory Research field of study.
• You have recent knowledge of one or more of the fields that are relevant for a biomedical analyst or researcher.
• Experience with R, Python and/or Bash is an advantage.
• You have several years of relevant work experience in the professional field and/or education.
• You possess didactic skills and have a good understanding of the specific characteristics of higher professional education.
• You are in possession of the basic teaching qualification (BDB) or are willing to obtain it;
• You are not an individualist but someone who likes to achieve things with a team.
• You are solution-oriented and have highly developed conceptual skills.
• You can structure your own work well in a dynamic environment.
• You recognize yourself in the words: strong communicator, open-minded, flexible, stress-resistant, enterprising and analytical thinking.
• You are, as our team formulated it, an enthusiast who is fully committed to education and is versatile!
• You are willing to work at our location in Emmen occasionally.
• Since our education is in Dutch, you have basic Dutch language skills (reading and listening), or are willing to learn these within the first year of employment.

We offer you
Depending on age and experience, the salary amounts to a maximum of € 5,936,77 (scale 11 Collective Labor Agreement HBO) gross per month for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The contract is for a period of 1 year. Depending on the match in the team, the curriculum developments and the student numbers, there is the prospect of extension and, in the long term, a permanent appointment.
